Censorship or ethics? The controversy over the Stellar Blade game’s clothes was worth a petition

For gaming fans, April 26th brought good news, as Stellar Blade was released. However, the video game in question has raised some controversy. So much so that some players accuse Sony of censorship.

According to Push Square, a gaming specialist, the complaints relate to the game’s clothing itself. There are fans who complain, in particular, about the protagonist Eve’s clothes.

According to the same source of information, there are two costumes for this character that used to be bolder. In this case, the Holiday Rabbit and Cybernetic Bondage.

Previously, these exposed the protagonist’s cleavage. As Push Square shows, the most exposed parts of Eve’s body are now covered.

The situation has generated a lot of discomfort in the gaming community. For this reason, a petition was even created on Change.org. This has the hashtag FreeStellarBlade and has been joined by many players.

The game director admits looking for another solution that will please players more

On the subject, game director Hyung-Tae Kim admitted that this version available may not satisfy many users. For this reason, he himself reveals that discussions are taking place “internally” on the topic (via Push Square).

That said, it is possible that the game will return these costumes to what the public already knew. Remember that some of Stellar Blade’s most daring costumes are still active in the game.

The Blue Monsoon costume, in a bikini style, is still available for use and has no difference to what already existed. To the relief of many fans, this may suggest that the objective is not exactly “censorship”.

For now, the “controversy” continues. However, as mentioned previously, it is possible that Stellar Blade will once again have some of the costumes that players have been complaining about.

Among the various comments that can be read on the Push Square news portal, one can read, for example: “the whole concept of covering up female breasts is ridiculous anyway. I have never heard any discussion about the display of male bodies.”
