Viseu academic wins seven gold medals in the Regional Swimming Championship

Viseenses climb to the podium 24 times. In total, there were seven victories for the academic swimmers. Miguel Batista stood out with four gold medals

Académico de Viseu swimmer Miguel Batista was in the spotlight at the Regional Championship of the Swimming Association of the Center North of Portugal (ANCNP). The athlete won the 200 Styles, 50 Backstroke, 100 Backstroke and 200 Backstroke events.

The swimmer won four gold medals. In the Académico de Viseu delegation, which included eight swimmers, all athletes were on the podium in the races they entered. There were, in total, 24 climbs to the podium by Académico swimmers.

Guilherme Silva was the best in the 1500 Freestyle and 200 Breaststroke events. He also won silver in the 200 Freestyle and bronze in the 400 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. João Vitória also stood out, winning five silver medals. Rafael Fernandes went to the podium to celebrate winning two bronze medals: 200 Backstroke and 800 Freestyle. Maria Rita won gold in the 200 Styles, silver in the 400 Freestyle and bronze in the 400 Styles.

Still in the Académico delegation, note to Madalena Figueira who won three silver medals: 200 Styles, 100 Mariposa and 200 Freestyles. The gymnast won bronze in the 200 Backstroke. Lara Fonseca’s bronze medal in the 800 Freestyle event also contributed to the Académico de Viseu medal.

The Regional Championship of the Swimming Association of the Central North of Portugal took place at Piscinas da Mealhada with 20 clubs, with a total of 218 athletes. The academic team will swim the Inter Distrital, which will take place at the Coimbra Olympic Swimming Pool Complex, between this Friday and Sunday.
