Gabriel Costa, 18 years old, Gal Costa’s son, filed a request in court for his mother’s body to be exhumed. The young man also requests that an autopsy be carried out so that the true cause of the singer’s death can be established.

According to columnist Monica Bergamo, from the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, the petition was presented to the Court last Wednesday (13).

Gal died in November 2022, and the death certificate states that the artist was the victim of an acute myocardial infarction and that she had head and neck cancer. However, Gabriel wants the doubts surrounding the cause of his mother’s death to be definitively clarified.

In addition to these requests, the singer’s only son also requests that Gal’s mortal remains be transferred from São Paulo to the São João Batista cemetery, in Rio de Janeiro, where the artist purchased a tomb to be buried next to her mother, from whom had a very close relationship.

Under the decision of Wilma Petrillo, who claims to be the singer’s widow, Gal Costa’s body was buried in São Paulo, which would have caused outrage among close friends and family who knew of the artist’s wishes.

As a minor at the time, Gabriel could not interfere in the decision. Now, at 18 years old, the young man asks for the transfer and also questions the statements that Petrillo was Gal’s widow and the part of the estate left by the artist that she claims for herself.
