Gal Costa’s son calls for exhumation and investigation into his mother’s death

Gabriel Costa, Gal Costa’s son, filed a request for exhumation and an autopsy to identify the true cause of the singer’s death. The information was released by columnist Mônica Bergamo, from the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo.

The artist died as a result of an acute myocardial infarction in November 2022. The death certificate also certified that she had head and neck cancer. But Gabriel wants new clarification about the cause of his mother’s death.

In addition to the requests, the heir requests that Gal Costa’s remains be transferred to the São João Batista cemetery, in Rio de Janeiro, where the artist purchased a tomb to be buried next to her mother, with whom she was very close. The singer’s body was buried in São Paulo under the decision of Wilma Petrillo, something that caused outrage among family members.

At the time, Gabriel Costa was a minor and could not interfere in the decision. The 18-year-old also questions in court the statements that Petrillo was Gal Costa’s wife and the fraction of the assets claimed by her.
