Couple arrested on suspicion of spreading rumors about child abuse and encouraging the death of an innocent man | Minas Gerais

The Civil Police arrested, this Thursday (14), a couple suspected of encouraging the death of a man who was falsely accused of committing child abuse. The woman, aged 26, and her partner, aged 24, were found in the Santa Amélia neighborhood, in the Pampulha Region, in Belo Horizonte.

The crime occurred on January 4, 2021, in Vila do Índio, in the Venda Nova Region. According to the institution, the victim was surprised at a neighbor’s house by three drug dealers, dragged out of the property and murdered in the middle of the streetwith about 20 shots in the upper part of the body.

Investigations revealed that the 38-year-old man took care of the couple’s 4-year-old child. The parents stated that their son had started to complain about possible abuse and began to spread rumors about what had happened in the community.

However, the alleged reports were the way they found to not pay for the caregiver’s service, with whom they had a debt of R$200. The suspects would have instigated his death, by provoking criminals from the cluster.

“There are indications that those who spread the news in the cluster and complained to local drug dealers about the alleged conduct of the victim, asking for ‘measures’, would have been the child’s parents themselves”, explained delegate Lígia Barbieri Mantovani, head of the 3rd Specialized Police Station of Homicide Investigation and Personal Protection (DHPP) of Venda Nova.

According to the institution, there was no evidence of abuse or mistreatment. As the investigation progressed, the Civil Police requested temporary arrest warrants against the couple from the Court.

The two were sent to the prison system, and investigations continue to fully clarify the case. Both already had a police record for drug trafficking..
