OThe US confirmed that Marwan Issa, Hamas’ number three, died on March 11 in an Israeli attack.
“The remains of the top leaders are hidden, probably deep within the Hamas tunnel network, and justice will come for them too. We are helping to ensure that,” said US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
The chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, had already said that Hamas was trying to hide what had happened to Issa.
Sullivan also highlighted that US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke this Monday about military operations in Gaza. The leaders of both countries renewed their “commitment to ensuring Israel’s long-term security.”
“Israel has made significant progress against Hamas. They destroyed a significant number of Hamas battalions and killed thousands of Hamas fighters, including senior commanders,” Sullivan added.
