The second day of the trial in the case involving the death of football player Daniel Corrêa Freitas, began this Tuesday morning (19), at the São José dos Pinhais Forum, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. On the first day, the highlight was the testimony of Edison Brittes Junior, who confessed to having murdered Daniel and gave details of the crime. The expectation is that the result of the trial could be released sometime this Tuesday night or Wednesday morning (20).

There were 14 hours of session, from the selection of jurors, with the formation of the Sentencing Council defined by four women and three men. Still on Monday morning (18), two confidential witnesses for the prosecution were heard.
After the lunch break, witnesses called by the defendants’ defense were heard by the jurors – the defendant’s mother Evellyn; a friend of defendant David Willian Vollero Silva; defendant Ygor King’s father; a neighbor of the Brittes family; a friend of the defendant Allana Emilly Brittes, invited to the birthday party at the club; Allana’s childhood friend, who attended the party and was at the house of the Brittes family, a cousin of defendant Edison Brittes; security employee at the club where Allana’s birthday was; brother of Edison Brittes and a second cousin of defendant Cristiana Brittes.

The first accused to be heard was Cristiana Rodrigues Brittes. She was interrogated for about an hour during the night.

Then it was Edison Brittes Júnior’s turn. In his statement, he said that he heard screams in the room, went in through the window, and saw Daniel in bed next to his wife, and that the player was sexually abusing Cristiana. Edison also said that he started attacking him inside the room, took Daniel to a dirt road in a rural area of São José dos Pinhais, and killed the player. He dragged the body off the road and mutilated it.
In the final part of the interrogation, Edison commented that he regretted the act.
Second day of trial
According to the Court of Justice of Paraná (TJ-PR), this second day of trial will be initiated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP-PR), then defense, interrogation and debate between the prosecution and defense of the defendants.
On this second day of the trial, 2h30 will be allocated to the defense and 2h30 to the accused. If there is a need for a reply or rejoinder, an additional 2 hours will be added for the defense and an additional 2 hours for the prosecution.
After this phase, the popular jury moves on to the phase called questioning, where jurors are asked whether to convict or acquit the defendants. The expectation is that the result could be released sometime this Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
