Lawyer and two men are targets of operation suspected of ordering the death of young people mistaken for members of a faction in MT | Mato Grosso

According to the Civil Police, the lawyer is identified as leader of the scheme and was already imprisoned in the Military Police Tactical Force battalion. The other suspects are also already being held in a state penitentiary.

The investigation carried out by the police unit showed that the leaders were the intellectual authors of the young people’s deaths.

According to investigations, the victims were kidnapped and later tied up in a forested area near Itanhangá, 447 km from Cuiabá. There, the executioners held a video call with the faction leaders to decide on the death of the young people.

During this period, one of the leaders requested help from the lawyer to collect information about the victims’ criminal records in the states of Pernambuco and São Paulo.

The lawyer would have sent prints of the consultations made in the courts even though he knew that the victims were tied up and with the criminals.

Soon after, the victims, still alive, were subjected to a torture session and received several knife blows. According to the police, the perpetrators recorded the crime and sent it to the leaders.

The investigation showed that the leaders ordered the victims to be beheaded and that the lawyer helped with the verdict with information that determined the death of the young people.

Riquelme and Joel were killed in a forested area between the cities of Tapurah and Itanhangá. When the crime was recorded, five people were arrested and two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of participation in the crime.

According to the delegate responsible for the case, Guilherme Pompeo Pimenta Negri, it was confirmed that the victims had no involvement with criminal groups. “Everything we investigated we forwarded to the forum in a police report. All the perpetrators are arrested and according to our investigation, the victims were not members of another faction”, he explained to g1.

In the month following the crime, the Tapurah Police Station arrested one of those involved in the crime and carried out another five search and seizure warrants at the addresses of the targets investigated for the double homicide.

The Civil Police began investigations on April 29, 2022, when the victims’ co-workers reported them missing after they failed to show up at the construction company where they worked. On May 6, the police station received information that there were two bodies in a wooded area. The bodies were decapitated, already decomposed and with their hands and feet tied.

According to the police, during the investigations, the team discovered that the officer illegally sent dozens of police reports to lawyers, which were then delivered to leaders of the criminal faction who are in prison, so that they could obtain information about police actions in real time.

The teams also surveyed the number of people that the law firm defended in the last two years, with one of the lawyers representing 205 clients, of which 168 were linked to a criminal faction involved in drug trafficking, robberies and homicides.

According to the police, the leaders of the criminal faction joined forces with the four lawyers, who represented the legal arm of the group, with a division of tasks in order to obtain financial and legal advantage, by committing crimes, such as drug trafficking, association with trafficking, torture and money laundering.
