Rita Stock was a guest this morning on «Dois à 10», where she spoke, for the first time on television, about the accident that killed her grandfather and son, ten years ago.

Ten years ago the worst happened in Rita Stock’s life. At the time, 16 years old, The guest’s son was traveling in a car with his great-grandfather when an accident occurred. Rita’s great-grandfather ended up passing away and Afonso was left in a coma.

«It was a fateful day. It was my grandmother who started walking down the street and she was the one who came across the tragic accident», began by telling Rita Stock. When Rita’s grandmother arrived at the scene, they were both alive and the firefighters told him they would only be able to save one person. The woman did not hesitate and asked them to save his great-grandson. Having said that, Rita’s grandfather passed away. «When I arrived, my son was in an ambulance, my grandfather was in another ambulance. I knew that my grandfather had nothing left to do.”, confesses Rita. Rita shares a curious fact: «My grandfather went to the wall where we had gotten married 20 years before».

Rita says that Afonso spent some time in a coma: «Afonso was in a coma for 20 days. We never knew what was going to happen». Regarding the accident, the young man has some flashbacks: “He remembers images. He sometimes says to me: ‘I remember asking Grandpa to brake. Grandpa was passed out’»says Rita.

Rita Stock had her grandfather as a father. The guest confesses that, over the years, she has mourned her grandfather: «I have taken time to go through this grieving process. He was a very important person to me. My grandfather was a father to me. He had a very strong bond with my grandfather ».

Cláudio Ramos asked: «It was necessary to choose. How long has that been in your head?”. «It has been a very long process»confessed the guest.

Regarding Afonso’s life after the accident, Rita confessed: «He had to learn to eat, he had to learn to speak, he had to learn to speak. Afonso does not have the maturity of 26 years old». «You had to fight your Afonso and another Afonso was born?»questioned Cláudio Ramos. “Completely. It’s a completely different Afonso»replied Rita.

Afonso started surfing again 5 years ago. The young man was once again able to do the sport he was passionate about, but in an adapted way. Since then, Afonso has won several adapted surfing competitions. adapted

Afonso’s younger brother, Tiago, joined the conversation. Rita said that, in 2023, Tiago had a motorcycle accident that left her with her heart in her hands. «This boy had a motorcycle accident this year. In Cascais, a car comes from the opposite direction, you don’t see it and it goes towards Tiago»account. «They gave me this sad news. It really was déjà-vu. It was a very big shock. When they told me it was a huge scare and I thought: I can’t handle it», confessed Rita. Happily, Tiago ended up recovering and was left with no consequences.
