Just over five thousand votes remain to be registered. PS even risks failing in terms of mandate outside of Europe
The process of counting emigration votes ends this Wednesday and, as on March 10, the provisional results will be known after the process is completed, the CNE spokesperson reveals to CNN Portugal.
Then, this Friday the official data will be released – covering the 22 electoral tables and which will appear in the minutes later published in the Diário da República.
At around 11:30, 5,371 votes remained to be registered, and only after these have been registered will they be counted and the polls closed, which should only happen in the afternoon.
The Europe circle has a clear leadership from André Ventura’s party, with the PS appearing in second and the AD in third.
Outside of Europe, where votes come from countries like the United States or Brazil, it is AD that has the advantage, and there also arises the possibility of Chega being elected, being in second place.
Even taking into account that several votes still need to be counted, the preliminary results give a clear indication: Chega can elect two of the four deputies allocated by the emigrants and the PS may not even elect in the Outside of Europe circle. If this happens, this will mean that Augusto Santos Silva, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and current President of the Assembly of the Republic, may be left out of Parliament in the next legislature.
The data available so far shows that Chega leads in Brazil, for example, while AD is ahead in the United States, Canada or Saudi Arabia. The PS leads on the African continent.
