Actor Damian Lewis broke his silence about the death of his wife, actress Helen McCrory (1968-2021), after three years. The 53-year-old artist is mainly known for his work on the series ‘Homeland’ and ‘Billions’. McCroy, on the other hand, worked on ‘Peaky Blinders’, but was remembered for her presence in the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise.

A victim of breast cancer, McCroy gave life to the character Narcissa Malfoy, mother of the villain Draco Malfoy, in films inspired by JK Rowling’s books.

Appearing on the program ‘This Morning’, Lewis spoke about the songs he wrote for his debut album, ‘Mission Creep’, released at the end of 2023.

“There are some personal songs here, people know about my late wife Helen,” said the actor about the record. “So there are some very personal things.”

Lewis and McCrory exchanged rings in 2007 and had Manon (16 years old) and Gulliver (15 years old). The artist said that his children supported him in his decision to invest in his musical career.

“They were lovely about it all, and they’re actually really talented musicians themselves,” Lewis said. “I think it can be a bit annoying to have your dad doing music when it’s what you want to do, but they’re more talented than me, so I encourage them to keep doing it.”

One of the most moving songs on Damian Lewis’ album is ‘She Comes’, with lines that say: “She comes like a bird, she comes like a fox. She sits at the window, sings on a rock. She is the moon during the day and the sun that shines in the dark. She rests on me and rests in the shade. She is my joy, she is my pain and she rains on me.”
