Garimpeiro Josué Ferreira de Souza, aged 41, was killed with a shot to the head, on a road that leads to a mine in the municipality of Mucajaí, last Sunday, 17th. The victim’s family are asking for help from the authorities to rescue the man. body.
According to Josué’s wife, Maria Antônia dos Santos, aged 45, she was informed by the owner of the machinery where he worked about her husband’s death, but does not know any further details about the person who fired the shot.
“I sent a message to find out the news, as it had been three days since I had been able to speak to Josué, that was when the owner of the machinery informed me of his death and sent a photo of him dead”, he said.

After learning of her husband’s death, Maria went to the Police Station and registered a police report.
Joshua’s body was left in the same place where he was killed and the criminals allegedly stole his belongings. The suspicion is that he was murdered while working, as in the photo sent to his wife, the victim is wearing a shirt, pants and boots. Furthermore, he had a fuel tank on his back and a machete was found next to his body.
“They left him in the same place he was killed. They didn’t even dig a hole to bury him, the way he was (victim) they just threw dirt on top of his body. Even when a dog dies, it is buried. I would like the authorities to help me bring it home, as Josué has a family. He deserves a dignified burial for a worthy person”, explained Maria.

Maria said she went to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) to ask for the body to be removed, but was informed that the body does not carry out this type of removal without authorization from the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPRR). She intends to go to the MPRR to request removal.
Still according to her, the only ones who can carry out the removal are the authorities, as private pilots do not want to fly in the region due to Federal Police supervision.
