The driver of an app-based passenger transport vehicle who disappeared on Tuesday (19), after going for a run, was found dead in Greater Recife.
According to information passed on to the police, the body of Jhonny Alex Ferreira Cavalcanti, aged 29, was handcuffed and partially burned.
Understand the case
Jhonny’s story began shortly after he disappeared. On Tuesday, the driver sent a message to his relatives and said he was finishing runs to return home.
After that, he didn’t get in touch anymore and left his family in despair.
Faced with his disappearance, his wife went to the police station and filed a complaint. Around 5pm on Thursday (21), a person passing near the Arena saw the charred car.
Jhonny’s body was next to him, with his hands and feet tied and burn marks. The driver lived in Curado IV, in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, also in Greater Recife.
His body was taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML), in Santo Amaro, in the central area of Recife.
In a statement, the Civil Police said that “investigations continue to determine all the facts, identify the authorship and motivation of the crime”
The case is under the control of the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP).
