More than 250 confreres from the most varied confraternities from the north to the south of the country are today in the village of Moinhos, in Miranda do Corvo, to share a day of celebration with the Confraria da Geropiga. This, which is one of Geropiga’s greatest ambassadors at national level and in the town of Moinhos in particular, held its 16th Chapter today and prepared a day of true fraternization with mass in the Capela dos Moinhos, an exciting recreation of the Cantar das Almas, a parade of all participants and a convivial lunch, washed down with wine produced in the municipality and dessert offered by the goddaughter Confraria do Arroz Doce.
Filipe Rosa, grand master of the Confraria da Geropiga, confirmed today, in an interview with Diário de Coimbra, the importance of this entity, which brings together more than a hundred of the confrades, committed to taking the promotion of Geropiga produced on the land and the name de Moinhos and Miranda do Corvo, speaking, with emotion, about the role of the brotherhood in promoting and preserving the traditions of the land, which the Brotherhood of Geropiga is keen to maintain. The person in charge did not forget, during the ceremony, the support of the Municipal Council of Miranda do Corvo and the Parish Council of Moinhos, in particular in returning to the project of building a new headquarters, which remained a little “dormant” during the pandemic, but it resumes now.
There are several highlights of this day, but the main one will be the enthronement of two new confreres, Clara Amado and Mário Pimentel, who, in an interview with Diário de Coimbra, spoke about what motivated them to join the Confraria da Geropiga.
