A crash on the A7 motorway, followed by a fall of around 120 meters, caused the death of a motorist today in Celorico de Basto, in the district of Braga, Civil Protection and fire brigade sources told the Lusa agency.

According to a source from the Tâmega e Sousa Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command, following a crash, the vehicle fell from a bridge around 120 meters high, in a place full of vegetation.

“The operatives arrived at the scene, had to make access to the vehicle, and after arriving at the scene, they provided whatever assistance they could to the victim”, but the victim was declared dead at the scene.

The alert for the incident was given at 4:38 pm, according to the same source.

According to the commander of the Celoricenses Volunteer Fire Department, Fernando Gomes, the fatal victim is a man aged between 50 and 60 years old.

Firefighters from Celorico de Basto and the Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle rushed to the scene. [VMER] from Guimarães, an Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulance from Fafe and the GNR.
