“In view of the claim of the attack by the Islamic State and the threats to our country, we decided to reinforce the Vigipirate stance at the highest level: urgency of attack”, indicated Grabiel Attal on the social network President, Emmanuel Macron.

The Vigipirate plan had been reduced in January to level 2 (“reinforced security — risk of attack”).

Friday’s attack on a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow that left at least 137 dead was claimed by a group affiliated with the ‘jihadist’ movement Islamic State (IS) and considered the deadliest on Russian soil in recent years.

The death toll in the attack rose to 137, including three children, Russian investigators announced today, noting that weapons and ammunition were found at the scene.

So far, security forces have detained 11 people in connection with the attack, four of whom personally participated in the attack, according to Russian authorities.

The suspects in Friday’s attack appeared in a district court in the Russian capital this evening. Faced with a strong police presence around the Basmanny District Court, the court is expected to determine coercive measures for those suspected of the act of terrorism that took place at Crocus City Hall, a large shopping complex on the outskirts of Moscow.
