Rio – Mariana de Souza Leite, 22 years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition at the Albert Schweitzer Municipal Hospital, after the app car she was in suffered an accident, in Realengo, West Zone of Rio. The case happened in the early hours of Saturday (23).

She and a friend, a minor, were returning home in the back seat of the vehicle when the accident occurred. According to witness reports, the car was hit by another vehicle, which ran a red light at the intersection of Rua Campos de Melo and Estrada General Canrobert Pereira da Costa, close to the Dom Atacadista Supermarket.

Mariana was taken to the Albert Schweitzer Municipal Hospital, in Realengo, with several injuries, including an open leg fracture and head trauma. The minor and the driver of the app car suffered minor injuries and were released.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as responsible for the accident, was a military police officer. Preliminary information indicates that he fled the scene without providing assistance. Later, he went to the local police station to provide clarification and was released.

On social media, friends of Mariana, who is known by her nickname Mari, ask for prayers for the young woman’s recovery: “I ask everyone to pray for her.”

In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the case was registered at the 33rd DP (Realengo). District agents carried out an investigation at the scene and interviewed those involved. The investigation continues to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
