NIn a note of condolence on his Facebook page, Nyusi highlights that “Manuel Tomé was a politician committed to his country, having dedicated most of his life to serving the country in various areas of activity.”
In a statement, the Frelimo Political Commission said that the former secretary-general of the ruling party died in Maputo from illness.
In addition to being secretary general of Frelimo, Manuel Tomé was head of the ruling party’s parliamentary bench in the Assembly of the Republic, secretary general of the National Organization of Journalists (SNJ), general director of Rádio Moçambique and member of the Board of Directors of the Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Plant.
