The Bahia Symphony Orchestra (OSBA) suspended this Monday (25) the contracts of the two musicians arrested for murder in Salvador. Because of the case, the Easter concert that would have been held this week was also cancelled. The information was released by the institution in a new statement, which was published on social media.
In addition to the two OSBA musicians, the boyfriend of one of them and a resident of Corredor da Vitória, the most expensive square meter in Salvador and the place where the crime took place, are also suspects. The four had their arrest converted into preventative arrest during a custody hearing held this Monday.
The murder took place in the early hours of Saturday (23). The four were identified as: Laércio Souza dos Santos (violist from OSBA), Lincoln Sena Pinheiro (flutist from Osba), Marcelo da Cunha Rodrigues Machado (Lincoln’s boyfriend) and Sérgio Ricardo Souza Menezes (resident of the region). A video shared on social media shows the action.
In the images, Laércio and Marcelo appear lying on the ground, appearing to immobilize the victim, while the other two follow alongside. The scene appears to have been recorded after the confusion. Despite this, the defense of the musicians and Marcelo claims that there was no beating. Watch below:

“We, members of ATCA/OSBA, are deeply appalled by the events of last Saturday (23/03), which involved two members of the Orchestra and ended up resulting in the death of a homeless person. Before making any statement, we express our great sorrow for this lost life.
At this time, we understand that it is necessary to wait for the investigations to unfold by the competent authorities, respecting the right to full defense and due legal process. The musicians in question are hired by the CLT regime, which is regulated by Brazilian labor legislation, therefore, while the musicians are in preventive detention, they will have their contracts with ATCA/OSBA suspended. We ask for the understanding of our public and Bahian society so that we await the progress of the investigations.
We inform you that, in respect of the events mentioned, the OSBA Easter Concert, which would take place this Thursday (28/03), in the TCA Choir Room, has been cancelled.”
