Last Monday (25/02), Gabigol received a two-year punishment for attempted fraud in an anti-doping test. Flamengo intends to file an appeal and still believes in absorbing the attacker. However, Tite must count on an important absence in the Carioca Championship finals.
Gabigol’s opportunism at Flamengo
In fact, Gabriel Barbosa arrived at Flamengo at the beginning of 2019 and has been important in the finals of the Campeonato Carioca. The red-black striker scored crucial goals in recent editions and has already helped win three State titles. The number 10 is currently a reserve, but can always be a good option in decisive moments.
In the last five years, Gabriel Barbosa scored four goals and provided one assist in the Campeonato Carioca finals. The striker is one of the main idols in the club’s history and is notable for appearing in decisive games.
Flamengo’s last finals in Carioca
2019 – Fla x Vas
Under the command of Abel Braga, Gabigol played wide on the right side in both games. The attacker built good moves and made infiltrations inside, but was unable to find the net against his rival.
2020 – Fla x Flu
