They highlight “the crushing of prices in production, with unacceptable imbalances in the distribution of value throughout the agri-food chain1”, a problem that, for the CNA, has been dragging on for years without successive Governments having had the political will to resolve this injustice, “which has led to impoverishment and the closure of many agricultural holdings”.
For consumers, products are increasingly expensive, “while the owners of the main supermarket chains continue to accumulate millionaire profits year after year”.

The European Commission itself, in a February report from the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, warns that the margins and profits of companies in the distribution sector have a considerable impact on the inflation recorded in food products in recent years.
For the CNA, it is urgent that the new Government intervene to guarantee the flow of national production at fair prices, with the application of a Law that prohibits paying farmers below their production costs and with the regulation and supervision of large distribution activities. .

The National Confederation of Agriculture also emphasizes the reversal of the cut in CAP aid to the landowners, “as a way of ensuring that those who still resist in their villages there can continue to live and work in agriculture, an essential activity for the territorial cohesion and for the vitality of the country’s most impoverished rural areas”.
