Accident leaves injured in western Bahia
Two victims of the accident that left 20 injured in western Bahia died in the early hours of Saturday (27). They were admitted to Hospital do Oeste, in the city of Barreiras.
One of the victims was identified as Dulcinéia Aurora de Oliveira. She was a collector (a service provider for the company, she covered a colleague who was on leave) for the minibus. The other victim was passenger Cleide Marques Ferreira, 56 years old.
Dulcinéia and Cleide were in the minibus that was involved in an accident with a pickup truck on the BR-242, in Barreiras, on Friday (26) and left 20 people injured. After the accident, the passengers of the bus were rescued and at the time, at least five victims were in serious condition. The cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed.
According to the Luís Eduardo Magalhães Emergency Care Unit (UPA), of the eight people who were admitted to the health unit, seven were discharged and one man was sent to Hospital do Oeste after being diagnosed with a cervical (neck) fracture. .
The TV Oeste team, a TV Bahia affiliate in the region, contacted the minibus company and the owner reported that he was notified about the accident as soon as it happened. Then, relief measures were adopted with Samu, PRF and UPA.
The company owner also informed that the vehicle has been properly inspected, the driver is qualified and experienced. The company is waiting for the report to confirm the cause of the accident.
The company said it is still paying for Dulcinéia Aurora de Oliveira’s funeral expenses and that it has just learned about the death of Cleide Marques Ferreira, who will also have her funeral expenses paid.
Dulcinéia’s wake is scheduled to take place in the city of Cristópolis, also in the west of the state.
On Friday, the minibus left Luís Eduardo Magalhães and was traveling towards Barreiras, a city that is 90.8 km away from the municipality where it departed.
During the trip, the driver lost control of the vehicle, went into the wrong lane and collided head-on with the truck. The road was wet and, upon impact, the bus overturned.
The two vehicles were destroyed and crossed on the road after the accident. [Veja foto abaixo]
Eight ambulances from the Luís Eduardo Magalhães Mobile Emergency Care Service were needed to provide assistance to the injured. They were taken to health units in the region:

At the time, the PRF did not provide information about the other four injured, who were not taken to the Hospital do Oeste, nor to the UPA of Luís Eduardo Magalhães.
The numbers of those injured who were traveling on the bus and in the car at the time of the crash were also not detailed.
The track had to be closed between 8:20 am and 10:20 am, when the vehicles were removed from the scene. After the removal, traffic flowed normally again.
