Ventura says that PSD “chose its travel company” and that from today onwards it leads the opposition

The president of Chega stated today that the leader of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, chose the PS as “his traveling company” for the legislature and that, from now on, his party intends to assume leadership of the opposition.
“I think today it was clear that Luís Montenegro chose his travel company for this legislature, chose his parliamentary travel company, and chose who he truly wants to make his agreements with”, considered André Ventura.
The leader of Chega spoke to journalists in the Assembly of the Republic moments after it was announced that the PS proposed to the PSD that the presidency of the parliament be shared, a proposal accepted by the social democrats, who will go forward with the name of José Pedro Aguiar-Branco for the first two legislative sessions of the XVI legislature.
Ventura said that he tried to contact the leader of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, without success, to obtain a consensus on the presidency of the Assembly of the Republic and considered that “it was clear that the PSD decided to form a more or less formal alliance with the PS”.
“Today the whole context changes, today Chega assumes itself as leader of the opposition”, stated André Ventura.
