A 34-year-old man was shot dead during a fight between neighbors in Criciúma, the largest city in the south of Santa Catarina, on Tuesday night (26). The crime was triggered after a soccer ball fell in the victim’s backyard, according to the Military Police.

The PM was called around 8pm to a residence in the Cidade Mineira neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers found the victim shot at least four times. The 51-year-old crime suspect was no longer at the scene.

According to witness statements to the Military Police, the victim went to his neighbor’s house to complain about the ball that had fallen in the backyard.

After the argument between the two, the victim punched the window of the house, provoking a reaction from the attacker, who pulled out a revolver and fired shots.

According to the PM, the two neighbors had already argued on other occasions. As of 7:30 am, the homicide suspect had not been located.
