A 51-year-old man was charged R$6,000 this Thursday (28) for drowning a cat to death, in Presidente Prudente (SP). He will also face criminal charges.
The Military Environmental Police were called to respond to a report of mistreatment and death of a domestic animal at the João Domingos Netto Housing Complex.
At the scene, the team was informed that a man had mistreated his cat to death, drowning it. The incident was witnessed and filmed by a witness.
The person involved confirmed the version to the police and claimed that he took this action to free the animal from suffering, as it was sick.
In view of the facts, an Environmental Infraction Notice was drawn up in the amount of R$6,000 against the suspect, for committing an act of ill-treatment followed by the death of a domestic animal.
The cat had already been buried and was not found by agents.
The man will also face criminal charges.
