In 2019, a serious accident completely changed Loren Schauers’ life.

The Great Falls (Montana, USA) resident was crushed by a forklift he was operating. The vehicle fell off a bridge and fell on top of Loren. He had his legs amputated, at the level of his pelvis, and half of his right arm. But he surprised many people around the world with his refusal to let his great physical limitations prevent him from living and making plans.

Loren, 21, and his wife, Sabia, regularly post updates about their daily lives and have amassed a large following online. The couple never shy away from topics that can be quite uncomfortable to talk about.

In the most recent example of this, Loren turned to Facebook in a vulnerable and honest way to discuss the challenge of making new friends recently.

“Am I the only one who finds it difficult to make friends?” he asked. “I’m never too busy doing anything, I just don’t know who to look for and let into my life”, added the American.

Loren explained that he had been disappointed and let down by people in the past, especially after the accident, and now feared that he might have difficulty trusting them easily again.

“Also, I’ve been betrayed by so many ‘friends’ in so many ways that I can have trust issues letting people into my life so they don’t steal from me, take advantage of whatever they can, things like that. I know that It’s stupid to put that in a Facebook post! If someone is looking for a friend! I’m always free and I need to make some friends. I haven’t gone out with anyone other than family in over a year,” Loren added.

The outburst touched many people on the web:

“I wish I could, man, and you seem cool, but Montana is a long way from Missouri.”

“I haven’t had any friends in about 3 years. It’s extremely difficult to find friends. Hang in there.”

“You’re not alone. I’ve been struggling with this since I graduated high school. I was in college for over 3 years and didn’t make a single friend.”

“My advice is to go out more or find a hobby! Whether it’s going to the pub to play darts, the park or even going to the supermarket. You’d be surprised how many people you’d meet!”
