Joint investigation between the police of Mato Grosso do Sul and Mato Grosso led to the identification of two people – mother and son – identified as masterminds of a crime in a popular shopping mall in Cuiabá (MT), on November 23 last year . On that occasion, the following died: Gersino Rosa dos Santos, 43 years old, the real target of the suspects, and Cleyton de Oliveira De Souza Paulino, 27, who was in the “firing line”.
The police arrived at the mother and son this Tuesday morning (2), in a house in Jardim Samambaia, in Campo Grande. The weapon that may have been used in the crime, a 9 mm pistol, as well as two 38 caliber revolvers, and also a “gun pen”, were seized from the suspects.
On Tuesday afternoon, the delegate from Garras (Specialized Police Station for the Repression of Bank Robbery, Robbery and Kidnapping), Pedro Pilar Cunha, from MS, and the delegate Nilson Farias, from Cuiabá, spoke to the press about the investigation.
For the police, Jocilene Barreiro da Silva and her son, Vanderlei Barreiro da Silva, acted out of revenge for the death of “Girlei” – Jocilene’s son and Vanderlei’s brother. Girlei fought with Gersino over a cell phone two weeks before he was killed. “When their brother’s life was taken away, the mother and her son decided to take justice into their own hands and hire the executioner from Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, to kill the victim in the city of Cuiabá”, explains Nilson.
The executor – Hired for R$10,000, Silvio Junior Peixoto, 26, left Uberlândia for Campo Grande, where he met Jocilene and Vanderlei. What they didn’t know until then was that the police investigation indicated that Gersino Rosa had no involvement in Girlei’s death. “The investigation showed that it was not the victim who died in the shopping mall who ordered the murder of this mother and brother’s son”, emphasizes Nilson.
Mother, son and executor left Campo Grande and headed to Cuiabá. All support was given for Gersino’s execution on that November 23rd – from going to the shopping mall to escaping. After committing the crime, Silvio Junior returned to Minas Gerais and the men sent to the Capital of MS.
Security cameras facilitated the police investigation, which reached the executor about a month ago, in Uberlândia. Garras, in support of the Mato Grosso police, began to investigate and managed to locate the family in MS. “They [suspeitos] They are a family of gypsies and currently live in Campo Frande, but they have also lived in Minas Gerais, hence this connection with the executor.”
At the Jardim Samambaia house, the police located the perpetrators. “We seized four firearms and several ammunition that were at the scene, and one of these firearms was probably used in the homicide committed in Cuiabá,” said Pedro Cunha. Many of the suspects’ family members were at the scene during the arrest and the police are investigating whether they provided any type of support for the crime.
Profile of prisoners – Vanderlei is already responsible for another homicide that occurred in the city of Uberlândia. “People made attempts on his life and he managed to react and kill one of these individuals,” said Nilson. Furthermore, there is suspicion that he is involved in illegal firearms trade and international arms trafficking”, adds the delegate. Jocilene has a record of illegal possession of firearms: “it is natural for these individuals to commit crimes” , points out Nilson.
Regarding Girlei’s death, investigations continue. “At the moment it is not known who ordered Girlei to be killed. When the police went to the family [Jocilene e Vanderlei], they said we didn’t need to look because they would sort it out. In fact, it must be the way they saw the solution”, concludes the delegate from Cuiabá.
