The weekly program “Viver Melhor”, on TVC HD, Channel 13.1, provides information about the services offered at Hospital Auxiliadora, in Três Lagoas. The program is shown from Monday to Sunday, with a new edition on Thursdays, and is presented by the unit’s executive director, Marco Antônio Calderon.

The interviewee was a cardiologist and hemodynamicist, João Paulo Nunes Fernandes, who explained how hemodynamic exams and procedures are carried out at Hospital Auxiliadora.

According to João Paulo, hemodynamics is a recent specialty in medicine that studies the movement of blood within the human body, in particular, blood circulation in blood vessels and the functioning of the heart. These procedures are essential for diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions such as coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, aneurysms and vascular malformations.

30 years ago, when an obstruction in an artery of the heart was diagnosed, the only treatment option was invasive surgery with the chest open. However, with the advancement of technology, these patients can undergo hemodynamic procedures, which are faster, less invasive and offer greater effectiveness, with less risk.
