Earthquake caused a tsunami that hit the country’s coast and the islands in the extreme southwest of Japan

An earthquake hit several countries in Asia this morning. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake was 7.4 on the Ritcher scale.

The epicenter was recorded in Taiwan, the strongest to affect the country in the last 25 years, and was also felt in Japan, China and the Philippines.

According to Taiwanese authorities, at least four people died in the town of Haulien, near the epicenter, and more than 50 were injured.

In the capital Taipei there are more than 87 thousand families who are still without electricity after the earthquake. However, the metro has already started operating.

The earthquake caused a tsunami that hit the country’s coast and the islands in the extreme southwest of Japan, but there are still no reports of damage.

Both the Philippines and Japan have already suspended tsunami warnings and Hawaii is also out of risk.

In China, there are reports that the earthquake was felt with some intensity, especially in the city of Shanghai.

Meanwhile, Japan Airlines has suspended flights to and from the Japanese regions of Okinawa and Kagoshima

Flights heading to areas affected by tsunami warnings were rerouted.
