Son arrested with mother for ordering double murder in MT shopping mall is taken to prison

Vanderley Barreiro da Silva, arrested with his mother Jocilene Barreiro da Silva in a joint operation with police officers from Garras (Armed Group for the Suppression of Robberies, Assaults and Kidnappings) and the Civil Police of Mato Grosso, had preventive detention ordered and will be sent to a prison in the State. The two underwent a custody hearing this Wednesday (3).

Vanderlei’s mother, Jocilene, will be transferred to Mato Grosso, where she will be held in a state prison unit. Mother and son are accused of being the masterminds of a double murder in a shopping mall in Cuiabá. They were arrested in the Jardim Samambaia neighborhood, in Campo Grande, after the warrants were issued by Mato Grosso.

In the house where the alleged perpetrators were arrested, the police also found four firearms and, in addition to the homicides, the two will be charged with the crime of illegal possession of a firearm. The police must investigate whether the duo committed the crime of international arms trafficking in Paraguay.

Murder in shopping mall in Mato Grosso

The crime took place on the morning of November 23 last year and another man, identified as Cleyton de Oliveira De Souza Paulino, 27 years old, was also shot dead.

To the police, the suspected masterminds alleged that the trader Gersino, known as ‘Nenê’, had previously had problems negotiating a cell phone with one of his family members, which would have motivated the crime. The prisoners would be the mother and brother of the merchant’s alleged victim. However, the motivation will still be investigated by the authorities.

According to Garras, the shooter was hired in Uberlândia (MG) by the man and the woman. The two are gypsies and would have lived for a while in the city of Minas Gerais, where they hired the shooter.

The shooter would have been traveling with the suspected masterminds to Campo Grande. From the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, he would have gone to Cuiabá, accompanied only by the man, where he went to the shopping mall and committed the crime. According to the police, the person in charge passed the firearm so that the shooter could fire the shots.

Garras, together with the DHPP (Specialized Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station) of Mato Grosso, also investigated that Cleyton was killed by mistake, as one of the shots hit his neck, which caused his death. The target would only be Gersino.

The Judiciary was asked to send a plane to the southern state of Mato Grosso, to be able to take the criminals to the state of Mato Grosso, where they will be imprisoned. The case continues to be investigated by the police in order to conclude the motivation for the crime.
