NGOs suspend operations in Gaza after death of 7 World Central Kitchen employees

-

A death of seven employees from the World Central Kitchen led other humanitarian organizations to suspend operations in Gaza. For thousands of people who depend on this aid, survival conditions in the territory are increasingly difficult.

The impact of the suspension of humanitarian aid operations in Gaza by some non-governmental organizations is difficult to measure, but for many people it could mean the difference between life and death.

Six months after the start of the war and the total blockade that cut off water and electricity supplies and limited the entry into the territory of food, medicine, fuel and everything else, the majority of the population began to depend on aid to survive.

The situation could, however, become even more critical in the coming weeks, not only due to the threat of widespread hunger but also due to the collapse of the healthcare system.

With the destruction of Al-Shifa, the largest hospital in Gaza, one of the territory’s foundations disappears, increasingly literally in rubble. Underneath the destroyed buildings there are thousands of missing people. Abdullah Elouf probably searches in vain for the bodies of his sister and five nephews.

The latest balance points to almost 33,000 deaths in Gaza since October 7th. Abdullah’s family members, like thousands of missing people, are not on the official list of victims.
