Sociologist studied violence and trafficking on the border

The master in Sociology, professor Gabriel Yuji Kuwamoto Silva, aged 27, was found dead this Tuesday morning (23.Apr.24).
According to the police, the body was lying under a tree in Antenor Martins Park, in Jardim Florida, in Dourados (MS).
With a degree in Social Sciences from UFGD, Gabriel participated in the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Studies on Rights, Diversities and Differences at the Border (LADIF).
The main scientific articles developed by Gabriel were studies on the violence of drug trafficking on the border between Brazil and Paraguay.
A 38-caliber revolver and a can of beer were found next to Gabriel’s body.
A silver Renault Sandero, which belonged to Gabriel, was found parked on the side street of the park.
At Sandero, materials with political content were found, including stickers and posters in defense of Palestine. The delegate informed that no material is illegal or of police interest related to the death.
Born in Santos (SP) and worked as a contract teacher at the State Department of Education of Mato Grosso do Sul from 2020 until December last year.
The case is being investigated and is initially treated as a suicide.
