The potato market is in focus this April, with practically stable supply and price variations recorded. According to analyzes by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea), the area harvested so far this month remains similar to the previous period. As a result of this scenario, prices registered a slight drop of 2%, reaching R$ 78.19 per 25 kg bag, considering the price weighted by classification, according to the average of washers across the country.
Cepea data highlights that, currently, the main regions responsible for supplying the market are Guarapuava (PR), which has already started harvesting the second part of the crop at the beginning of April, Água Doce (SC) and Bahia.
For next month, forecasts point to a downward trend in supply, as the water harvest comes to an end. However, Chapada Diamantina (BA) should still maintain a satisfactory harvest rate, as indicated by Cepea experts.
