Around here, this event is also called “Easter Moon”, as it takes place at the same time as the celebration. Last year, the Moon was full on April 6th and Christian Easter was on the 9th. In 2024, the distance was much greater, as the celebration took place, for Christians, on March 31st. Pesach, the Jewish Passover, is more aligned with the event this year, taking place from sunset on April 22nd until dusk on the 30th.

How to see?

This Tuesday, the Moon rises around 5:35 pm, Brasília timeaccording to a bulletin from the Astronomical Study and Observation Center of the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina.

It should reach its peak around 8:48 pm, according to Inmet, crossing the sky from one side to the other until it sets in the west, at dawn. As it is at maximum brightness, it should be easy to observe if the sky is not covered by clouds.

Use an astronomy website or app to see the exact position and time to observe it in your city. Skywalk, Starchart, Sky Safari or Stellarium are some of the recommended ones.

A tip from Tilt: always try to admire the Moon in the first hour after it risesvery close to the horizon, as optical effects make it appear even larger, due to the perspective with terrestrial references (such as buildings and trees), and presents beautiful variations in tone (yellowish, orange, reddish or even pinkish), due to the interaction with the atmosphere and pollutants.
