Mother and son who invaded home, killed elderly people and injured priest are arrested in MT

This Sunday (21), a mother and her son invaded a residence in the Alvorada neighborhood, in Peixoto de Azevedo (MT), and shot the lives of two elderly people, in addition to leaving a priest injured. After two days on the run, both were arrested on Tuesday afternoon (23) and taken to the Peixoto de Azevedo Police Station.

Inês Gemilaki and Bruno Gemilaki Dal Poz were caught on security cameras while breaking into a house during a Sunday lunch. At least eight people were at the scene during the crime.

The images show that the duo entered the residence, shooting “indiscriminately”, without giving the victims any chance of defense or escape. Elderly people Pilson Pereira da Silva, aged 69, and Rui Luiz Bogo, aged 81, died at the scene, while a priest who was also there was injured. The target of the attack, however, was not shot.

According to the Civil Police, the crime was motivated by debts owed by the family to the target who survived.

After the murder, mother and son, accompanied by a third individual who authorities believe to be Inês’ husband, fled in a white Ford Ranger. Since then, they have been caught on security cameras buying beer and water at a convenience store in Matupá, about 13 km from the crime scene.

The police found the pair on a family farm, located on BR-060, 180 kilometers from Peixoto de Azevedo, after being contacted by lawyer Angelita Kemper, responsible for the family. The defense informed that the suspects intended to surrender and asked them to accompany them to the residence, which is only accessible after more than 85km of dirt road. According to Kemper, the two had been “at the disposal of Justice” since Monday (22). She also stated that she will not speak publicly about the case.

Inês and Bruno were waiting at the scene to execute the preventive arrest warrants, which means they will be in custody for an indefinite period of time. According to information from UOL, the MT Court appointed Inês and Bruno as the perpetrators of the double homicide of Pilson and Rui, following a request from delegate Anna Paula Marien, who heads the investigations.

They were taken to the police station and are expected to be questioned later today. “They [mãe e filho] They surrendered and there was no resistance. The investigations continue so that all due diligence is carried out and all information is gathered and forwarded to the Public Ministry and the Judiciary.”explained Marien.

Inês and Bruno were identified as responsible for two homicides, two attempted homicides and criminal association. The weapons used in the crime and the getaway truck were not found at the scene.

During the action, two other suspects were arrested: Márcio Ferreira Gonçalves and his brother, Eder Gonçalves Rodrigues. The second confessed to his participation in the murder after being detained at a residence in the municipality of Alta Floresta (MT) this morning (23). Márcio is Inês’ husband and would have driven her and Bruno’s getaway car.

Despite not being a suspect, Eder admitted that he entered the residence with Inês while Márcio was waiting for them in the vehicle. The police did not know that the boy was the man caught on camera. The arrest in the act was converted into preventive detention and both were taken to the Alta Floresta Police Station. It is not yet known whether they were subject to a custody hearing and their defense has not been located.
