Civil Police indict three people involved in the murder of a lawyer in the center of Rio | Rio de Janeiro

The Rio Civil Police indicted, this Wednesday, three people involved in the murder of lawyer Rodrigo Marinho Crespo, in the center of Rio, in February.

Military police officer Leandro Machado and military officers Eduardo Sobreira Moraes and Cezar Daniel Mondêgo de Souza were indicted. The investigation also requested the trio’s preventive detention. According to investigations, the three participated in monitoring the victim and met before and after the crime. PM Leandro Machado is believed to have provided the car used on the day of the murder.

Also according to the Civil Police, a new investigation was opened to discover others involved in the crime. The inquiry was sent to the Public Ministry of Rio.

Rodrigo Marinho was attacked in broad daylight on Avenida Marechal Câmara, on February 26, next to the OAB and State Public Ministry buildings.

The motivation for the crime is still considered uncertain by the Capital Homicide Police, but one of the lines of investigation is the lawyer’s connection with the online betting sector.

On April 9th, criminal Adilson Oliveira Coutinho Filho, known as Adilsinho, appeared as a new person involved in the crime. On this date, the police carried out search and seizure warrants against the current patron of the Salgueiro samba school, and against eight other people under investigation. Four of them were military police officers. In fact, one of them was arrested for illegal possession of a weapon.
