The re-candidate president of FC Porto, Pinto da Costa, left hints to André Villas-Boas, the dragons’ main opponent in the elections.
“Blessed was the time in which I re-applied, because I had the opportunity to know who loves FC Porto and to know who lives our club. And there was no need to make buses available to anyone to fill the city. In difficult times, you are always with FC Porto, that’s why I have you all in my heart, you are a lever for me. Let us always be united, together defending our club”, he said.
Pinto da Costa left no doubt about the target of the criticism: “My passion for FC Porto is not for today, nor is it marked with limits for 4 years from now, it is for a lifetime. And so are you. We will not give up, we will all together to fill Avenida dos Aliados again. Porto is ours, until we die one day, on the day when that happens, I will carry you all in my heart”, he added.
“Because you are often treated badly, often persecuted, but you always say that you are present to FC Porto. I hope I can bring you much more joy than what we have experienced and that is only possible if we are all together”, he said.
The speech was made in front of hundreds of members and supporters after the boat ride down the Douro River.
The FC Porto elections are scheduled for next Saturday.
