Accident with death of motorcyclist was a split, says witness

A passenger in an app car witnessed the accident that ended with the death of a motorcyclist in the central region of Curitiba, on Wednesday night (24). The woman reported that the driver parked the car in a regular space and, after disembarking, saw two motorcycles at high speed.

According to professor Liz Andreia, one of the motorcyclists lost control after going over a speed bump. The driver fell to the ground and, due to high speed, hit the app car that was still stopped.

“I already saw that there were two motorcycles coming racing, as I looked in the corner of my eye I saw that one of them fell. I came running in fear, I saw that she came dragging and hit the app car. She got lost on the bump and came dragging. The car was calm, stopped”, reported the teacher.

Motorcyclist dies in accident in the Center

The motorcyclist who suffered the accident in the center of Curitiba was identified as Avelino da Silva Mira Neto. The 50-year-old man was driving a Harley-Davidson and suffered serious injuries from the impact.

“At the moment we arrived and he still had his helmet on. However, unfortunately, the helmet alone was not enough”, said Sergeant Cunha, from the Fire Department.

The woman who witnessed the accident also reported that the other motorcyclist, who was allegedly involved in a race, remained close to the scene of the collision, but left afterwards.

“The other motorcycle stopped at the traffic light, he looked for a while and left. It was a split, but 100%. I escaped for seconds, I had just passed behind the vehicle”, highlighted the teacher.

The accident site was isolated and the victim’s body was collected by the Legal Medical Institute (IML) of Curitiba.
