Sauna security said that the customer owed approximately R$700 on site. In the audio, he reported that he held Yuri by the neck and arm to lead him back to the establishment. The man claims that, already close to the location, the customer became “aggressive and upset”, causing a physical confrontation between them, in which he was knocked down. He also claims to have managed to hold Yuri’s bathrobe, who took it off and ran again, leaving his cell phone and room key behind.
In audio, the employee also said that the hotel would have a “procedure” if the customer did not pay. To the UOL, Douglas Drumond, owner of the establishment, stated that the sauna puts “pressure” on employees to remain alert at their posts and prevent debtors from leaving the premises. However, he denied that employees are charged for customer debts.
Sauna owner denies that security guard assaulted customer
The establishment denied that it was related to the boy’s death. To the UOL, Douglas said that the client was not treated violently, as indicated by some posts on social media. According to the sauna owner, Yuri was a customer there.
Douglas said the establishment’s Instagram has been blocked and said he is being called a “murderer.” He reported that he will give a statement to the police and forward the images from the sauna’s security cameras and the list of who was with Yuri there.
The owner still mourned the young man’s death. “We are very saddened by Yuri’s passing. We wish his friends and family our most sincere condolences”, concluded Douglas.
