The rise in the price of diesel from 135 kwanzas to 200 Kz last Tuesday, the 23rd, continues to deserve the most diverse reactions, with economist Carlos Rosado de Carvalho, contacted by Novo Jornal, saying that this increase could be beneficial for national economy, if the savings obtained are used to mitigate the difficulties of the most disadvantaged populations.

For Rosado de Carvalho, “if the financial resources spent on fuel subsidies are used to subsidize defense and security bodies, they will be poorly applied, but if they are channeled towards education and health, they will already be well applied”.

According to the economist, the removal of the diesel subsidy will negatively affect the performance of several productive sectors, such as agriculture, industry, fishing and others, which will lose purchasing power.

“We can expect that there will be an increase in inflation”, he concluded.

However, this expert paints an optimistic picture about the consequences of removing fuel subsidies, highlighting that they are necessary costs, so that a more efficient economy can be achieved.
