0.21% in April, with an increase in the price of food and drinks

In April, the main inflation indicator, the IPCA-15was 0.21%.

The value represents a drop of 0.15 percentage points (pp) in Broad National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15) in March, when it changed 0.36%.

O IPCA-15 result was mainly impacted by the Food and Beverages group, with an increase of 0.61% and an impact of 0.13 pp on the general index. The Transport group was the only one to show a drop (-0.49%), with an impact of -0.10 pp on the general index.

O IPCA-15 April was released today (26) by IBGE.

In the last 12 months, the IPCA-15 variation was 3.77%, below the 4.14% observed in the immediately previous 12 months. In April 2023, the IPCA-15 was 0.57%.

Regional variations

Among the nine areas analyzed, the biggest price increase occurred in Recife (0.57%) due to the higher cost of tomatoes (27.79%) and gasoline (5.13%).

Fortaleza recorded the lowest result (-0.02%), driven by the drop in air ticket prices (-17.10%) and gasoline (-4.80%).
