In her autobiography “Senhora do meu Destino”, Susana Vieira opened her heart about what she called “the worst days of your life”. In an excerpt published by the newspaper Extra this Thursday (25), the actress opened up about the betrayal and death by overdose of her ex-husband Marcelo Silva. She said that, at the time, the extramarital affair was discovered through the news.

The episode in question happened in 2008, when Susana was 66 years old and Marcelo was 35. “I have always been aware that love lasts as long as it has to last. At the same time, when I’m in love, I always think I’m going to live with that person my whole life. I can’t start a love relationship thinking it will only last two years.”she said.

“I woke up one day with a betrayal reported in the newspapers: ‘Susana Vieira’s husband has had a lover for months’. A huge betrayal, with photos, with proof. At the same time, I threw Marcelo out of the house, and he went to live with his lover in a hotel in Barra”, continued. The actress said that the relationship between the two began two years earlier, in the middle of Carnival, when she was drum queen of Grande Rio and fell in love with the “kind and green eyes” of the boy who provided security.

The lover, known as Fernanda Cunha, then 24 years old, said she was attacked by Marcelo after the betrayal became public. She chose not to press charges because “fear of new aggression”. Less than a week later, however, the case took a turn: Marcelo began his romance with the girl live on the program “A Tarde é Sua“, on Rede TV!”

In the following excerpt, the artist said that she was very judged when having a relationship with a younger man. “I was ridiculed. Everyone said the same thing: ‘Do you think the guy wouldn’t cheat on you? And what did you want to happen to a much younger guy?’. I wondered if, by chance, someone who is 35 years old is a young person. He was a man. He was my husband, not a boyfriend”he wrote.

“I’m not an idiot, I wasn’t a little girl to be traumatized by betrayal. I’m not a woman who holds a man close to me all the time. So, when people asked me if I didn’t think it was natural for this to happen, I said no. Because I still believe in human beings. Because it doesn’t occur to me that, when I fall in love, the whole society thinks that that young man is with me to exploit me.”she added.

In the chapters that follow, Susana states that this is the only moment in which part of the story will be between her and the police: “But I can guarantee that they were the worst days of my life. I had to be escorted and have security guards at my house day and night.”.

Weeks after the separation, Marcelo was found dead in an aparthotel in Barra da Tijuca, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. According to investigations, he consumed cocaine for 13 hours and the cause of death was an overdose. In the work, Susana reported that she was blamed by the public and journalists for the death of the former police officer.

“What offended and hurt me the most was the press being against me. That was the most absurd, abject, prejudiced thing I’ve ever seen. He was the one who had an overdose that led to his death. He was the one who had a lover. And I become the irresponsible one for having married for love?” vented.

“They said: ‘How have you not seen this before?’. And by any chance does someone know the other person that much before an intense interaction? Because even if you live with someone on a daily basis, unpleasant surprises can happen.”, concluded the global actress. The book, which narrates the veteran’s trajectory, is scheduled for release on May 7th.
