The Chernobyl radioactive accident turns 38 this Friday (26) and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, took advantage of the occasion to ask the international community to pressure Russia to free the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, in southern Ukraine.
“The whole world has a duty to pressure Russia to release the plant and return it to full control in Ukraine,” Zelensky said. According to him, only in this way will it be possible to “guarantee that the world does not suffer new radioactive catastrophes”.
For the president of Ukraine, the nuclear plant is held “hostage” by Russian “terrorists”.
