Drivers give different versions of intersection accident

An accident between a car and a van caused the partial closure of Avenida Visconde de Guarapuava, in the center of Curitiba, late this Monday morning (29). The collision happened at the intersection with Rua 24 de Maio, where there is a traffic light. Everything indicates that one of the drivers ran the signal, however, at the scene, none of the drivers took the blame.

In the accident, an app car, which was traveling on 24 de Maio, hit the side of a Peugeot van, which was crossing the road on Visconde de Guarapuava. With the force of the impact, the utility vehicle fell onto the road.

Drivers present different versions of intersection accident

There were no injuries in the accident in the center of Curitiba and the drivers presented different versions. The passenger car was driven by a young man, who was working on a transport platform. The boy, identified as Guilherme, reported that he was on his way to Rebouças, to pick up a passenger.

“I was going along 24 de Maio and the driver of the other vehicle committed serious recklessness, in addition to being too fast on the road, they ran the traffic lights, where my vehicle collided with theirs. I even braked, but it was not possible to avoid the accident”, said the app driver.

However, the version presented by the two women, who were in the van and were on their way to deliver bread to a hospital in Curitiba, is totally different. The girls reported that the light was green for them and they noticed the car approaching, however, it was not possible to avoid the crash.

“We were going to make a delivery and when we passed Visconde de Guarapuava, the light was green for us, the boy was coming, my friend even said ‘Dani, look at him’. She tried to dodge, but she couldn’t, it was too fast. After she crashed, she flipped our van […] We weren’t at a red light and we weren’t speeding,” said Daniele, who was in the passenger seat of the van.

Despite contradictory versions, images from security cameras should clarify the accident. The videos are already with traffic agents.
