5 motorcycles that changed their bodywork to justify the price

-

Just like every market, the motorcycle market has to update itself and automakers also need to modify their models so that they remain competitive. Even the most established two-wheeled models sometimes have to undergo a redesign to maintain their status, or even leave the market to make way for a better one.

However, these changes often shine more in the eye than they actually benefit the consumer and lead them to buy a motorcycle that will cost more due to its novelty and beauty.

Even though we know that not all of them just change the casing, but rather have significant improvements, these are bikes that often take the place of the old ones on the market and continue to offer the same as their predecessor, all to remain on the market and justify the readjusted price. .

1 – Yamaha FZ 25

The first example we can cite is the Yamaha Fazer, which was renamed FZ15 in the 2018 version. This one, which became more sporty, had improvements in everything: chassis design, riding position and even a little tweak to the engine – even though it has the same base. decades ago.

The new FZ 15 was better, but it was no longer a more basic motorcycle and increased in value by R$1,370 in suggested value – from R$13,620 to R$14,990 at the time.

In addition to increasing the price for the consumer, the 250 motorcycle, which currently costs R$ 22,790, has not changed in terms of effectiveness and continues to be a small motorcycle for those who want to move away from the 150 or 160.

2 – Yamaha Lander 250

The XTZ 250 also followed the same line as its “cousin” aimed at urban traffic. With changes to her entire body, she left behind her more cross footprint and incorporated a more trail style, taking a lot of inspiration from the late XT 660R. However, it also continued in the same market position it always had (even surpassing the Honda XRE 300 at times, but all due to the launch of the new Sahara) and at the launch of the update it started to cost R$ 18,990.

3 – Honda XRE 300 Sahara

One of the most beloved Japanese companies in Brazil was also changed to adapt to the market. With a move different from the others, Honda had to radically update its motorcycle that was more than 10 years old – with practically the same characteristics – and decided to pay homage to the old Sahara. She changed the bike completely, reformulating everything and combining the XRE 300 models with the old Sahara 350, which gave rise to the XRE 300 Sahara. However, the almost intermediate price went from the suggested price of R$25,600, in the middle of 2023, to R$27,090, when updated.

4 – Dafra Apache 200

The successor to the Apache 150 was launched in 2019. At the time it arrived very technological and totally different from the previous one, but all of this was chasing the loss that the old non-technological one left behind. Dafra’s 150 became obsolete and this reformulation was necessary for the automaker to be able to apply the R$ 12,490 suggested at the time, as it would not be possible to charge such an amount for the old one that had already been discontinued in 2016.

5 – Zontes 350

To conclude, we have a new gear on the Brazilian market that, unlike the others, did not change the can, but only the engine. Six of the seven new motorcycles brought by the brand now have a new 350 engine. Even the old T 310, R 310 and V 310, which are now called T 350, R 350 and V 350, have had this change.

All of this culminates in more powerful and stronger motorcycles, but the justification can easily be analyzed based on the market issue. These three Zontes motorcycles were launched between R$26,990 and R$27,990, and were far above their direct competitors: Honda and Yamaha. Now with an engine, values between R$28,880 and R$32,300 make the models better justified.
