Police officers are arrested again and charged with the death of a young man in Cidade de Deus | Rio de Janeiro

The teenager was on the back of a motorcycle when he was shot. According to family members, uniformed police officers in an unmarked silver car chased Thiago and shot him.

The MPRJ states that, during the investigations by the Military Police Internal Affairs, the PMs planted a Glock pistol and ammunition at the crime scene, alongside 13-year-old Thiago, right after killing him, to simulate an armed confrontation and incriminate him. The boy was accompanied by a man, who was hit in the hand by the shots fired by the military police.

The complaint also highlights that the conduct of the PMs was carried out in the context of an illegal police operation.

For the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the crime was also committed for a base reason, “it is certain that those accused acted with the aim of carrying out an illegal operation commonly known as ‘Troy’. He further describes that the accused were in a private vehicle, ‘with insulation film, and, upon approaching the victims, unexpectedly, they fired firearms’. And, finally, the crimes were committed using high-energy, restricted-use weapons, known as rifles.

In the early hours of August 7, Thiago Flausino was shot three times, one in the back of the leg, one in the back and another that pierced both of the young man’s shins. The driver of the motorcycle where Thiago was riding does not have a criminal record. According to investigations, he is also not involved in trafficking.

In the opinion of the dead young man’s family, Thiago was the victim of an execution. To try to prove this theory, Thiago’s relatives gathered witnesses and 13 videos from security cameras. All material was handed over to the police and the Public Defender’s Office.

In one of the videos it is possible to see a silver car chasing Thiago’s motorcycle and three men running along Estrada Miguel Salazar Mendes de Morais. For the family, they are 3 of the 4 police officers who were on the boy’s trail.

Shortly after Thiago’s death, the PM reported that two men on a motorcycle shot at the team and that, after the confrontation, a teenager was found hit and succumbed to his injuries. According to the PM, a 9 mm pistol was found and seized.
