TVI’s “Big Brother 2024” premiered last Sunday night, the 24th, and SELFIE spoke to the commentator Pedro Crispim.

“I am aware that it is a new universe for most of them. I am fully aware that, initially, they will have some resistance to the fact that they show other layers of themselves as people and that they will put on some masks that they believe will work. Formulas that you’ve seen before and that you believe work. But, in truth, the game is much more interesting to me when these other layers of the players are revealed. When they start to do this ‘peel-down’, it’s much more stimulating for me. While commentator and viewer”, he began by telling us.

Then, the stylist talked about Jacques Costa, a competitor who admitted that he was “living a year of self-discovery and who identifies as a non-binary person”. “In relation to the themes, causes and agendas that are brought to the house, I think it’s very good and I believe that a reality show, despite being something light, light and fun, it can also contain, for me, some type of learning and information that lasts over time. I consider that the project reality show goes far beyond the obvious. Yes sir, there is this veneer of entertainment, which makes perfect sense, but, if there are certain topics that require debate, I will always applaud. This is what happens with Jacques”, he introduced.

“I think we should talk about everything, there should be no ghosts or fears. There should be no forbidden subjects on television. We are people, we speak and communicate to people and, as such, the world goes far beyond our horizons. In this sense, I feel which is a range of competitors that, from the outset, will trigger very interesting narratives and much-needed debates. casting very, very well done. I hope they all meet my expectations,” she continued.

“In relation to Jacques. My applause goes, firstly, to TVI. It really is a subject that needs to be talked about, demystified and debated. But let’s see one thing: when someone takes this issue or when someone closes this reality – because this is a question of identity, it has nothing to do with sexuality -, this has to be very well explained and dealt with. The showcase that is ‘Big Brother’ carries a unique opportunity to really get the message across, to communicate and to teach. Therefore, I hope that there is this awareness, otherwise it would all be in vain and it would be like dying on the beach. There is, in fact, a golden opportunity there for the topic to be scrutinized, explained and result, in some way, in a normalization, but things have to be structured and well defended, to have their credit. In fact, that is my true expectation regarding the topic”, he confided.

“We are all so different, we don’t have to be the same, nor do we have to attack each other for being different. We have to give ourselves space to understand and to be able to evolve as a society”, he also stressed.

Finally, Pedro Crispim addressed the moment when Jacques Costa admitted, in a conversation with Cláudio Ramos, that he prefers to be addressed by the feminine pronoun. “I confess that I was a little confused, but, possibly, it is my limitation or my ignorance and I will explain what confused me: if the person defends that they are non-binary and do not identify with the drawers in which men and women are placed, the woman, then when asked, the person responds that they want to be addressed in a feminine way? At that moment it was like that, at the gala, and I was a little confused. But, perhaps, I’m the one who is limited in relation to this topic. Because That’s why I’m very interested to see the theme developed”, admitted the format’s commentator.

“I think that, above all, we have to look at competitors without judgment and give everyone an opportunity to learn something together. It doesn’t hurt anyone, learning never leaves us behind. But I also believe that Jacques is much more than the issue that is on the table”, he concluded.
