It was at Comic Com Portugal that the next major production to debut at OPTO, “Blue“, was presented first hand by SIC.
Recorded in the Azores, the project promises to explore social and environmental themes in an engaging and impactful way. Director Pedro Varela discussed the challenges and inspirations behind the series, as well as his vision of the audiovisual industry in Portugal, revealing when it should premiere.
“Azul’s story revolves around the character Olivia, representing the normality of inclusion. The creative process involved exploring themes such as trisomy and sensory sensitivity, in a subtle and engaging way. Working with actors with disabilities enriched the narrative and provided valuable lessons about inclusion“, he revealed.
“I estimate that the launch will take place after the summer, but the final decision does not rest with me alone. We are preparing everything to present to the public a carefully crafted and visually impactful production“, he further revealed.
