Three women who cross paths. 35 years ago, Karen (Annette Bening) became pregnant at just 14 years old and, with no choice, was forced to give up her daughter for adoption. She was never able to deal with this loss and today she is a bitter person with enormous relationship difficulties. Her daughter, Elizabeth (Naomi Watts), is a successful lawyer focused only on winning on her own merit and reluctant to create bonds of any kind. Meanwhile, Lucy (Kerry Washington) dreams of becoming a mother and, unable to get pregnant, finally decides to adopt. Written and directed by Rodrigo García, it also features Samuel L. Jackson.

The Conjuring – The Evocation

This is the story of the Perron family, who, during the 1970s, claimed to have been haunted by evil spirits. After weeks of being harassed, they ask for help from Ed and Lorraine Warren, two experts in paranormal cases, who arrive there determined to investigate the case in depth. After an initial assessment that leads them to learn about the house’s past, they discover that the apparitions are related to an event more than a century old, associated with the murder of children. Directed by Australian James Wan (Insidious, Saw, Aquaman), in 2013 it was the first chapter of a horror saga that was inspired by a real case. The cast includes names such as Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Mackenzie Foy and Joey King, among others.

The Swamp

February in the Argentine Northeast. Scorching sun and tropical rains. Some lands become swampy. These swamps (ciénaga in Spanish) are deadly to animals that sink into them. But this story is not about swamps: it is about the city of La Ciénaga, its surroundings and two middle-bourgeoisie families on the verge of a collapse that is suggested through the surrounding nature. Dating back to 2001, this film marked the debut of renowned Argentine filmmaker Lucrecia Martel in feature films. It gave him international fame and won him the Alfred Bauer Prize for Best First Work at the Berlin Film Festival and the Best Screenplay Prize at Sundance.
