Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will testify in court in a civil case she brought against two men who allegedly made a pornographic video deepfake her.

Giorgia Meloni is seeking compensation of 100,000 euros after a 40-year-old man and his 73-year-old father, who were not identified, allegedly carried a video deepfake on a US-based porn sitein which the Prime Minister's face was superimposed on the body of an adult film star.
Both men were followed through their cell phones, the devices they allegedly used to make the non-consensual video and which were later published in 2020, when Meloni was campaigning to be prime minister. Meloni won the 2022 elections as leader of his Brothers of Italy party, with a landslide victory.
According to information from CNN, the video was online for months and accumulated several million views. Some of the images are still online.
Meloni was called to testify in a Sardinian court on July 2nd.
Meloni's lawyer, Maria Giulia Marongiu, says the prime minister wants to set an example for other victims of pornography deepfake and will donate any financial award to the Home Office's Domestic Violence Victims Fund.
4000 celebrities victims of pornography deepfake
In an investigation by the British television station Channel 44000 pornographic videos were found online deepfake of celebrities.
Among them are actors, television stars, musicians and YouTubers – who were not identified – whose faces were superimposed on pornographic material using generative AI.
